Family Health & Fitness Day USA
Did you know Saturday – September 27th, 2014 is the 18th annual Family Health & Fitness Day USA? This event is always the last Saturday in September and focuses on promoting family involvement in physical activity. This is one of the goals of the United States Surgeon General\’s Report on Physical Activity and Health. Local organizations throughout the country will be hosting family-related health and fitness events. Activities will be non-competitive and may include events for walking, low-impact exercises, health screenings, open houses, games and health information workshops.

My Health and Wellness Expo
The Health and Wellness Expo will be September 27, 2014 in Fort Collins at the Northside Aztlan Community Center. The Expo is a fitness event to help educate and inspire the public in the areas of Healthy Living, Personal Wellness, Fitness, Health Eating, Lifestyle Improvement, Longevity, and much more. Anyone (of all ages) who is interested in staying fit and active is encouraged to visit this event. Health experts, individuals affiliated with key independent health food shops and local health food resellers, health conscious consumers and many others representing multiple cross-sections of society are invited to attend. Exhibitors for the event will include non-profits, city agencies, healers and providers from all over the country – along with Life coaches, personal trainers, gyms and weight loss professionals and wellness professionals. The expo will feature healthy lifestyle products and services, and much more.

Ideas for Fall Fitness
Fall is a great time to re-ignite and or continue a health and fitness program. It is a perfect time to renew, rethink, and restart. The clean, cool, crisp fall mornings can be the perfect environment for you to getting moving and enjoy the great outdoors. Walk – make it a habit to walk during some point during your day. In addition to helping you physically, walking can provide you time to clear your head and think. Hike – burn mega-calories while increasing your elevation and really work your legs, not to mention it provides you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenic views of nature. Run – it is not too hot or too cold and you are able to elevate your heart rate while watching the leaves change color each time you head out the door.

Four Week Telephonic Health
Coaching Program
Week 1: 45 Minutes
* Review Biometrics and complete lifestyle questionnaire
* Discuss current exercise habits, food choices, drink choices, cravings
* Discuss barriers to improving eating and exercise habits including existing beliefs and habits
* Discuss main health concerns (i.e. hypertension, obesity, etc)
* Develop plan for food consumption, replacements and substitutions, increased fruit/veggie intake, etc
* Develop plan for exercise based on goal of weight loss, stress reduction, injury prevention, etc.
Week 2: 20 Minutes
* Review plan developed in week 1 and discuss progress
* Discuss barriers to making progress (if needed)
* Enforce small steps solutions
Week 3: 20 Minutes
* Review plan developed in week 1 and discuss progress
* Discuss barriers to making progress (if needed)
* Enforce small steps solutions
Week 4: 45 Minutes
